Girona City Council has been awarded the SG City 50-50 certification<\/strong>, an international recognition that attests to its commitment to effective equality between women and men and, in particular, to the integration of this perspective across all municipal policies. This morning, the Councillor for Equality, Social Justice and Cooperation at Girona City Council,<\/strong> Amy Sabaly Balde,<\/strong> the president of Forgender Seal, Marta Macias<\/strong>, and the organisation\u2019s founding partner, Emili Cardiel,<\/strong> took part in the ceremony to present the certificate, which took place at Girona City Hall.<\/strong> The Councillor for Equality was accompanied by staff from the Equality Department, Mariona Salvador and Judit Font.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cFor the past three years, the Department for Equality has been firmly committed to strengthening the integration of a gender perspective into all municipal policies, with the aim of advancing towards effective equality between women and men, not only in theory but also in the day-to-day practice of public action. As a result of this work and commitment, the City Council has been awarded the international SG CITY 50-50 certification, a recognition that endorses good practices in the field of equality and consolidates the path taken in recent years,\u201d<\/em><\/strong> highlighted the Councillor for Equality, Social Justice and Cooperation, Amy Sabaly y Baldo.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Unlike other, more sector-specific approaches, this certification highlights a way of governing that incorporates equality as a cross-cutting criterion in all areas of municipal action, from social services to urban planning, including employment, culture and citizen participation.<\/p>\n

It looks at both the organisation\u2019s internal policies and its outreach to the public, examining how inequalities are identified, how they are addressed, and how measures are planned to reduce them. This approach enables local councils to move towards more efficient, equitable and human rights-based management models.<\/p>\n
