On February 12 we organized the first training session of the training cycle “Feminisms, coresponsibility and uses of time” of the DIGECP Project that has the support of the European Union.
These training courses are specially designed for political and technical staff of municipalities certified or in the process of certification of the SG CITY 50-50 Distinctive for Gender Equality at the municipal level, as well as for women’s entities and associations in these territories.
The sessions represent an opportunity to share experiences with other certified municipalities, learn about updated tools and strengthen your leadership in public policies for equality.
In the first session on 12 February, we addressed the first block of content of the training cycle on “Feminisms and future challenges”. Evolution of feminisms and current challenges.
Marta Macias, president of Forgender Seal, speaker of the training, made a conceptual tour to understand equality (feminism) as a political framework and governance tool to design local public policies that guarantee substantive and intersectional equality. And he broke down his presentation into these three thematic blocks:
- Why institutional transformation begins with the conceptual framework.
- Why can neutral policies reproduce inequality.
- Why equality is a democratic and legal mandate.
The session was attended by political representatives and technical team from 22 municipalities and councils, in addition to the participation of four women’s associations from municipalities certified with the SG CITY 50-50 Distinction, local governments committed to Equality in their municipal policies and programs.
During it, the participation of the city councils and councils was very active, contributing their vision and diverse realities, as well as asking questions to deepen the theme of the session.
We share the schedule of the upcoming sessions.
